PCI sets up fact finding team on killing of UP scribe

The Press Council of India (PCI) has set up a three member fact finding team to enquire into the reported killing of journalist Jagendra Singh in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district.
In a statement released here, the PCI said that its chairperson Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad has set up a three member fact finding team consisting of Prakash Dubey, S N Sinha and Suman Gupta to enquire into the reported killing of Singh earlier this month.
"The team will visit Lucknow and Shahjahanpur on June 16-17, and make a thorough probe into the matter by holding discussions with mediapersons, including victim's family and public, and other concerned authorities to collect such information as is deemed necessary," the statement said.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Ram Murti Singh Verma was earlier booked along with five others in connection with the killing of Singh by setting him afire in Shahjahanpur district.
The FIR was registered at Puwayan police station on the basis of a complaint by Jagendra's son Raghvendra after the journalist passed away during treatment at a hospital here last night, police had said.
