PDP member Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Panthers Party legislator Sayed Mohammad Rafiq Shah were today marshalled out from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council after commotion broke out in the House over the death of a youth in a firing allegedly by CRPF personnel in Srinagar.
As soon as the House assembled, PDP members raised slogans demanding discussion over the death of a 24-year-old Altaf Hussain allegedly in the CRPF firing in Srinagar yesterday.
National Conference MLC Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri also supported the move and sought discussion on the issue.
However, Legislative Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra did not comply with their demands and said that the matter can be discussed after the Question Hour.
Mir, however, said that it was a more serious issue than the questions being asked by the members and needs immediate attention.
"There has been no answer from the government, a boy has been murdered," Mir said.
Malhotra rejected the request, but told Mir that he will get his chance to speak over the issue after the Question Hour.
Both Mir and Shah, along with PDP member Sayed Asgar Ali continued sloganeering, on which the Chairman told them to submit a written requisition for discussion.
When Mir continued to protest, Malhotra warned him that he will be marshalled out if he did not stop, but the warning had no effect on Mir and he continued shouting.
Congress MLC Jehangir Hussain Mir and Jugal Kishore also jumped into the melee and said that five CRPF jawans were killed but nobody was talking about them.
Shah, meanwhile, insisted upon his demand and reiterated that Question Hour was not important, forcing the Chairman to order their eviction.
"Marshall them out," Malhotra ordered. "You cannot dictate the Chair," he said.
They were accordingly marshalled out.
PDP members Sayed Asgar Ali and Nizam-ud-Din Khatana later walked out from the House in protest.
