"Some unknown people hurled stones at the police patrolling party early this morning. They also partially damaged the edges of the boundary wall," Superintendent of Police (Rural) A V Minz told PTI.

The boundary wall, which had been pulled down by the villagers of Nagri, 20 km from here, in July this year was re-constructed and the damage done to it today was also repaired, he said.

Adequate police personnel were deployed and work was on, he said.

The incident came a day after the high court directed the state to deploy para-military personnel to protect building materials stocked up there for construction of educational institutions.

Protesting against the government's acquisition of land to set up of IIM, IIT and National University of Study and Research in Law at Nagri, the villagers had clashed with the police on July 4, and the Rural Superintendent of Police had been injured in the clash then.
