A petition seeking adequate protection to Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and steps to ensure his free movement throughout the state was filed in Kerala High Court today.
The petitioners also wanted positive measures against "illegal" protests against him.
According to the petitioners - Rashmi Mohan Vettatah and two others - government should take positive and concrete steps to ensure that the Chief Minister is able to exercise his constitutional function without obstructions.
The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the wake of Chandy getting injured in stone pelting by opposition LDF protestors in Kannur recently.
LDF, which has decided to intensify its agitation against the Chief Minister, has been demanding his resignation over the solar panel scam.
They have been pressing for Chandy's resignation against the backdrop of the scam pertaining to financial cheating of several people by promoters of a private firm offering them Solar energy solutions.
LDF has been alleging that the fraudsters had the support of Chandy and his office. Though government had ordered a judicial probe, LDF refused to give up its demand.
