PFI to launch campaign in Raj, clarify terror link charges

The Popular Front of India, which is under the NIA scanner for alleged links with terror outfits, will hold a public meeting in Jaipur later this month to counter claims that it has a role in radical activities, its state president said today.
The meeting on October 29 would be organised as part of a national campaign 'Hum Bhi Kuch Kahenge', PFI's Mohammad Arif said.
Arif said a section of the media has been publishing news reports about PFI's alleged involvement in radical activities and therefore the campaign will be launched to clarify the organisation's position on the allegations.
"The PFI is being defamed in Kerala and other areas. The campaign is being launched across the country," he told reporters, adding that the organisation has no role in recruiting operatives for the Islamic State group in India.

The National Investigation Agency in a report to the Union home ministry has said the PFI had been involved in terrorist activities, including running training camps and making bombs. The NIA said the outfit fits the case to be declared banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Arif said the campaign in Rajasthan will begin tomorrow in Sawaimadhopur and end with a grand meeting on October 29 in Jaipur.
The PFI reportedly has presence in 23 states and is strongest in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
