PWD Chief Engineer (Tiruchirapalli) Painthamil Selvan declared open the 75 foot tower and said visitors can view the Dam, Thermal Power Station and surrounding areas from the top.
He said the quantity of water in Mettur dam (at 18.38 tmc) would be enough for Salem and the town would not face any drinking water scarcity this summer.
The water level at the reservoir today stood at 50.89 feet against its full level of 120 feet.
The inflow was 149 cusecs and outflow 600 cusecs.
