While Modi sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath for development of villages and well-being of the poor and farmers, Patnaik termed the Rath Yatra as 'most auspicious occasion'.
"On the occasion of Rath Yatra, my warmest greetings to you all. May Lord Jagannath continue to shower his blessings on everyone," the Prime Minister posted on Twitter.
Modi said, "May the blessings of Lord Jagannath lead to development of villages, well-being of poor and farmers and take India to new heights of progress."
Bachchan tweeted: "Jagannath, Jagannath, Jagannath...!!. Rath Yatra Shubh Ho..Prathanayein!!"
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram also expressed their wishes and greetings on the occasion of Rath Yatra.
