He was chairing a meeting of the National Committee for Celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, which was attended by a number of ministers and other members.
He said greater awareness should be generated about Ambedkar's vision of India's industrialization and its necessity in order to generate employment for the poor and deprived sections of society, a PMO statement said.
The comments assume significance as Modi is keen to ensure rapid industrialisation of the country through his Make-in-India project but a number of reforms legislations are facing stiff resistance from opposition parties.
This could be accomplished through initiatives such as annual quiz competitions for school children, he added.
During the meeting, members gave their suggestions on how the celebration should be organized throughout the year.
Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, M Venkaiah Naidu, Ram Vilas Paswan, D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Suresh Prabhu, Mahesh Sharma and Jual Oram attended the meeting.
Among other members, Charanjit Singh Atwal, Narendra Jadhav, Siddalingiah and Milind Kamble were present.
