'PM Sharif has not interfered in probe against Musharraf'

The prosecutor in the high treason case against Pervez Musharraf today said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not interfered in the probe against the former Pakistani military ruler.
A three-judge special court formed by the government to try 70-year-old Musharraf on charges of high treason for imposing emergency in 2007 heard arguments by prosecutor Akram Sheikh.
He said the investigating officer could appear in court if required and the Prime Minister had not interfered in the probe, Dawn News reported.
Sheikh said the court had ordered the formation of an investigating team comprising honest persons and the Constitution was being followed in the case.

Musharraf's counsel Anwar Mansoor presented his arguments on the formation of the special court and the way the case was registered against his client. He contended the Constitution defined the government as the premier and his cabinet.
The court has set up a medical board to assess the former military ruler's health condition and exempted him from appearing in person till today.
The board comprising senior military doctors has been asked to present its findings in court tomorrow.
Musharraf was admitted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology after he suffered heart problems while being driven to the court on January 2.
