Marking their 700th day of protests against the KNPP, hundreds of people and activists belonging to the People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy, pretended to "drop dead" on the streets of Idinthakarai, the epicentre of protests against the plant, in a gesture to display the alleged effects of nuclear power.
The protest was observed to oppose the recent AERB clearance given to KNPP which attained criticality on Saturday night.
KNPP Units one and two are VVER-1000 type reactors set up with technical cooperation with Russia.
