An inquiry report about the leak in Calcutta University's political science paper II question was today submitted to the interim vice-chancellor, six days after West Bengal Education minister Partha Chatterjee said it could be an act of conspiracy.
"Yes I have received the report (political science question paper leak) but can't say anything else. We will act on it appropriately," the university interim vice-chancellor y Asutosh Ghosh told PTI today.
On June 8, the varsity was forced to cancel the political science paper-II examination and aggrieved candidates from five CU-affiliated colleges went to the University's College Street campus in protest.
Partha Chatterjee, who was present at the campus to attend another programme when the aggrieved candidates assembled, later told reporters that the government would examine if the leak of political science question paper was deliberately done as an act of conspiracy or was due to negliegence.
The minister had asserted that the government was keeping a watch on the situation and asked the VC to institute a through probe into the question paper leak and take strict action against
"I had expressed surprise over how a teacher of an examination centre in south Kolkata could commit the mix up. You can't blame the students," the minister said after the fiasco.
"Political Science general paper I is taken by honours candidates who have opted for the subject as one of the two pass papers as well as by general degree students. Owing to the huge number of candidates taking the exam, political science is held in two slots.
"Students who appeared in the exam on June 8 morning did not face any trouble as two sets of questions are prepared for the two slots. Students who were to appear in the exam in the afternoon will have to reappear on another day which will be announced soon," a university official explained.
