Police fail to submit report on Thakur's plea, claims his wife

No enquiry report has yet been submitted by police before the Lucknow CJM on a complaint filed by suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur seeking registration of FIR against Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening him, Thakur's wife today claimed.
The Hazratganj police failed for the third time in a row to present its report before Lucknow Chief Judicial Magistrate today, to which Thakur's counsel Akhilesh Awasthi registered serious objections, Thakur's RTI activist wife Nutan Thakur said.
CJM Som Prabha Mishra has now asked the police to submit their report by Thursday, directing that the matter shall be heard finally on Friday, August 28, she claimed.

Thakur had presented the complaint to Inspector Hazratganj Vijaymal Singh Yadav on July 11 and to SSP Lucknow Rajesh Pandey on July 23 when the Hazratganj police failed to register the FIR.
Thakur was intimated by police through a letter dated July 17 that his complaint has been enquired into and has been found untrue.
Calling this enquiry as against the provisions of law, Thakur had presented the complaint on July 31 under section 156(3) CrPC before the CJM for registration of FIR, on which the CJM had called police report.

On August 4, 14 and 24, the police had failed to submit the required report.

Thakur had on July 10 accused the Samajwadi Party supremo of threatening him over phone with "dire consequences" if he did not mend his ways.
The state government had suspended Thakur on July 13 hours after he approached the Union Home Ministry seeking a CBI probe into the rape case slapped against him. At that time, Thakur was posted as IG (Civil Defence). He was served a 200-page charge sheet and a vigilance probe was also initiated against him.
