Police initiate search for Narayan Sai in eastern UP

A search has been initiated in eastern Uttar Pradesh for Narayan Sai, absconding son of self-styled godman Asaram, following indications that he might be hiding somewhere in the region.
DIG Basti range R K Swarnakar today said that Surat police have conveyed to IG Gorkahpur zone that there are indications that Narayan Sai might be hiding in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Superintendent of Police of Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Siddharth Nagar have been directed to search hotels, railway stations, bus stands, vehicles and to maintain vigil, he said.
A thorough search was carried out at several hotels and buses in the district last night, Swarnakar said.

Cases of rape, sexual assault and illegal confinement have been registered against Sai.
