Two bodies found in a house in Texas were yesterday identified as those of the parents of a 10-year-old Indian-origin boy who was found dead in a bathtub in January for which the mother was charged with murder.
The bodies of Pallavi and Sumeet Dhawan were found in their Frisco home but the cause of their deaths is yet to be ascertained.
The couple's bodies were found following a request by a family member to check on them after being unable to reach both the husband and wife, Frisco Police Department official said in a news conference.
The body of 39-year-old Pallavi, police said, was recovered from the family pool with no identifiable trauma to her body.
"Pallavi Dhawan was found in the pool. There's no indication how she ended up here or how long she had been there. Police say they still don't know what led to the couple's deaths, and may never know," the officials said.
"This is a terrible, terrible tragedy this family is going through," said Frisco Assistant Chief Darren Stevens.
Detectives say they found a note, but are still reviewing what it says and trying to figure out who wrote it.
"The note was being assessed for information and authorship. No guns were found in the home," Stevens said adding that many items that are normal in a home could be used as a weapon.
Stevens said it would be inappropriate to qualify the deaths as a murder-suicide.
The Dhawan family, in a statement released yesterday, said "We are devastated by the continued tragic loss to our family. In this time of unimaginable sorrow, we would like to grieve with our family and friends, and request everyone to respect our privacy. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers."
Last January, police found the couple's 10-year-old son, Arnav, dead in a bathtub. Police arrested Pallavi for murder, but a grand jury was still considering whether to indict her.
