Police is yet to ascertain the association of Saif, who was arrested recently in connection with the murder of a Hindu Yuva Vahini leader in Ambedkarnagar and termed as terrorist by the DGP of Uttar Pradesh two days ago, with any of the terrorist orgainsations.
"The name of the terrorist organisation with which Saif is associated yet to be ascertained," IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Singh Sengar told reporters when asked about his association with any terroist organisation during a press briefing.
The DGP Rizwan Ahmed had, on Sunday last, termed Saif as a terrorist in Ambedkarnagar.
Saif was arrested recently in connection with March murder of HYV leader Rambabu Gupta in March last year and December 4 murder of Rammohan Gupta, an eye witness in Rambabu's murder.
When asked as to why Saif was termed as a "terrorist" by the DGP when his organisation was not known, Sengar said "it was because Mumbai police had lodged a case against him under a section connected with terrorism."
The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) had also refused Saif having record of terrorist links.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesman Ashok Singh has questioned the contradiction between the DGP and ATS views' on Saif and said that no innocent should be framed like in Gujarat.
