"Bangladesh is our closest neighbour and if there any political turmoil or unrest it also influence our peace and stability in India. We as neighbours always want peace and tranquillity to continue in the neighbouring country," Sarkar said while addressing a function organised by Bangladesh Visa office here on the occasion of Bangladesh Independence Day last night.
He said, "Those, who were against the formation of Bangladesh as a sovereign country, had always hatched conspiracies against the democratic process in the country."
Tripura has 856-km-long border with the neighbouring country and it accommodated 16 lakh people which were more than its own population at that time.
