A release from the Chief Minister's office said the Welfare and Port Minister M Kandasamy, Chief Secretary Manoj Parida and officials of Port department were among those who participated in the deliberations.
Narayanasamy reviewed the project to develop the Puducherry port as a satellite port of Chennai Port Trust (CPT) to ensure that cargo transactions took place at the earliest.
Welfare Minister Kandasamy told PTI that the government was keen to ensure that the port was developed fast.
"We are keen to ensure that employment opportunities were generated through this step, apart from generating revenue to the government," he said adding "we also have to overcome certain hurdles in implementing the scheme."
