Pondy govt urged to pay salary in cash: Employees Federation

The Puducherry State Government Employees' Central Federation today urged the Puducherry administration to ensure that it paid the current month's salary to its staff, in cash.
President of theFederation P Lakshmanasamy said a detailed letter was presented recently to the Lt Governor, the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary of Puducherry urging disbursal of salary and allowancesin cash, as banks were already crowded with customers ever since demonetisation of high denomination notes was announced and most of the ATMs were also non-functional.
The pay day is November 30 and if the employees were to stand in the queue there would be difficulties for them, he said.

"For hassle free availability of the salary and allowances to the in-service employees and pensioners payment should be in cash and disbursed through the departments concerned as was the practice in the past till situation became normal," Lakshmanasamy said.
There are around 30,000 employees and pensioners and the disbursement would be around Rs 150 crores, he said.
