With Puducherry's Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Parida being transferred to Delhi as part of a bureaucratic reshuffle, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today said the Union Territory would "benefit by this change".
In her WhatsApp message from New Delhi to media persons, Bedi said she welcomed the change of chief secretary.
"Puducherry will benefit by this change," Bedi said.
Bedi said, "We need a chief secretary who is neutral and listens to all. The chief secretary should be field oriented, coordinates and brings officers together."
The Lt Governor said the UT wants a chief secretary who believes in improving matters and not allowing them to deteriorate as Puducherry deserves the best official.
"Puducherry also needs care and response and relief, justice and fairness and honesty and the poor need to be made self-reliant," she said.
Dismissing reports that she was going to resign as "a rumour," Bedi said that she wanted to know who was spreading it.
"I am in Delhi to receive my IIT Alumni Award today. I am away from Puducherry just for a day and will be back tomorrow to clean up Puducherry from all counts and in every way possible," she said.
As part of the bureaucratic reshuffle, Delhi Principal Secretary (PWD) Ashwani Kumar will be the new chief secretary of Puducherry.
Puducherry Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Parida and another senior officer G Narendra Kumar have been transferred to Delhi in a reshuffle by the Home Ministry yesterday.
