Thanks to his runner-up finish at the Pune Challenger, Prajnesh Gunneswaran today jumped 59 places to achieve a career-best singles rank of 287 while Saketh Myneni re-entered top-200 in the latest ATP rankings, issued today.
Prajnesh, who lost five-years of tennis due to recurring knee injury, earned 48 points with his effort in Pune, where he lost the final to France's Sadio Doumbia.
The 26-year-old left-hander is now country's third highest ranked player in singles behind Myneni, who moved 10 places up to 193, and Ramkumar Ramanathan (220).
Young Sumit Nagal had impressed with his fighting abilities but his second round defeat from a winning position cost him six places as he is placed 358 now. The next best was national champion Vishnu Vardhan at number 409.
In the doubles, Rohan Bopanna leads the Indians at unchanged 22nd rank while Leander Paes lost a place to be at 56. Divij Sharan was unchanged at 65 and was followed by Pune Challenger winning partner Purav Raja, who gained three places to be at career-best 66.
In the women's tennis, Sania Mirza continues to be world number one in doubles.
