Preparations for monsoon on the Konkan route

The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. Had completed safety works on its route from Thokur near Mangaluru Junction to Kolad in the central railway ahead of the monsoon season, KRCL said.
The monsoon timetable came into effect on the Konkan Railway network from today and would be in force till October 31, a KRCL release said.
During the period, trains would run with changed timings. Trains would run at a slower speed to avoid mishaps during the rainy season, it said.
The railways have informed passengers who had booked journey tickets prior to the announcement of the monsoon timetable to check the timings of their trains in advance. Steps had been taken to check boulder fall on the route in the rainy season, the release said.

Three control rooms at Belapur, Ratnagiri and Madgaon would function round the clock.
