Scores of Indian Youth Congress workers today held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here demanding action against journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik for having met 26/11-mastermind Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan.
"There must be charges pressed against him (Vaidik) for anti-national activities," said IYC leader Ghanendra Bhardwaj, who accused the government of trying to shield the senior journalist, who is known to be close to yoga guru Ramdev.
"IYC wants to know why Vaidik has not been arrested yet and why is the government trying to shield him," Bhardwaj said.
The protesters also asked the government to clarify whether the Indian Embassy in Islamabad had played any role in setting up Vaidik's meeting with Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Saeed earlier this month in Lahore.
The issue, meanwhile, rocked both Houses of Parliament for the second day today.
Vaidik, a freelance journalist, had met Saeed in Lahore on July 2 while touring Pakistan along with a group of journalists and politicians who had been invited by a peace research institute.
