Prices of pulses have begun to drop in Madhya Pradesh following the Centre's decision to import lentils and on expectations of good production in the current kharif season.
"The retail price of tuar (arhar) daal on July 15 was about Rs 118-130 per kg, but now it is selling at Rs 100-108 per kg," Madhya Pradesh Daal Udyog Mahasangh's president Suresh Agrawal said.
In the last one month, wholesale prices of moong, urad and masoor daal too had come down, he told PTI.
The Centre recently decided to import pulses, which would increase the supply. This, coupled with expectation of a good kharif production, led to fall in the prices, Agrawal said.
