Private tutor, brother arrested for assaulting man

A 52-year-old private tutor and his brother were arrested for allegedly assaulting a man who had gone to his house to protest against the sexual harassment of his minor daughter at a village in Nadia district, police said.
Amit Debnath, a private tutor and his brother were arrested yesterday for assaulting Sujit Adhikary of Majher Gram Tentulsari village after he protested the sexual harassment of his daughter, they said.
Sujit, a local flower trader had gone to confront Debanth after his daughter, a student of class VIII, complained that she was being sexually harassed by her teacher for sometime now.

Debnath and his brother rained blows on Sujit during the confrontation following which he filed a complaint and the brothers were arrested, police said.
They were produced in a Krishnagar Special Court today and were charged under different provisions of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act. The duo have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, a police source said.
