Provas Dhali arrested in connection with Barun Biswas murder
Jalpaiguri superintendent of police Amit Javalgi said Dhali was arrested by police personnel of North 24 parganas and Jalpaiguri districts from a 'kirtan'(devotional music) gathering at Falakata in Jalpaiguri district today.
He was produced at Alipurduar court which gave him a transit remand following which he was handed over to the police team from north 24 parganas district.
Barun Biswas (38), a popular teacher and a social activist of Sutia in North 24 Parganas who had spoken out against anti-social activities in the area was shot dead by miscreants at the Gobardanga Railway station in the district on July 6 last.
