PUCL favours release of Hurriyat leaders, talks with them

PUCL favours the release of all Hurriyat leaders and "unconditional talks" with them and other sections of the Kashmiri society for a permanent resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
This and the repeal of AFSPA was among the major recommendations put forth by a fact-finding team of the rights body that toured the violence-hit state between October 14 and 22.
PUCL (People's Union For Civil Liberties) also demanded a a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court to look into the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani which it termed as "extra-judicial".
"The GOI and J & K Government should release all Hurriyat leaders and hold unconditional talks with them and representatives of the other sections of the people, including the youth, in order to break this impasse and move towards a permanent resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
It also demanded that activist Khurram Pervez be released, the ban on Kashmir Reader newspaper be immediately withdrawn.
As many as 85 people, including two cops, have been killed and several thousand others injured in the ongoing unrest in the Valley
The ongoing unrest in Kashmir has affected the education as schools, colleges and other educational institutions continue to remain shut in the Valley.
