Raju alias Rajeev, 50, a resident of Shyampur Jaat village in Hapur district, passed away in the morning, they said.
"Upon the information by the jail authorities, a team of doctors was sent for autopsy of the deceased who was undergoing treatment for cancer at a hospital in north east Delhi," said Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Dinesh Sharma.
"In case any undertrial inmate dies in jail that death is considered as death in custody. Therefore all the legal formalities were completed in the presence of a magistrate and the video of postmortem procedure was also captured in his presence," said District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani.
