Pulse prices surge on stockists' buying

Firm conditions emerged at the wholesale pulses market today as select pulses, led by gram and other pulses, surged by up to Rs 200 per quintal on the emergence of buying by stockists following pick up in demand from dal mills and retailers.

Marketmen said brisk buying by stockists, driven by a pick-up in demand from dal mills and retailers amid pause in supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up gram and other pulses prices.

In the national capital, gram rose by Rs 150 to Rs 4,150-4,200, while its dal local and best quality traded higher by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,500-4,900 and Rs 4,900-5,000 per quintal, respectively. Kabuli gram small variety followed suit and shot up by Rs 150 to Rs 4,900-5,700 per quintal.

Arhar and its dal dara variety moved up by Rs 50 and Rs 100 to Rs 3,950 and Rs 5,500-7,400 per quintal, respectively.

Masoor small and bold gained Rs 100 each to Rs 3,800-4,200 and Rs 3,950-4,250 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,600-5,000 and Rs 4,700-5,100 per quintal.

In line with the overall trend, urad and its dal chilka local went up by Rs 100 and Rs 200 to Rs 4,100-5,500 and Rs 5,100-5,200 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya traded higher by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,200-5,700 and Rs 5,650-5,850 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal): urad Rs 4,100-5,500, urad Chilka (local) Rs 5,100-5,200, urad best Rs 5,200-5,700, Dhoya Rs 5,650-5,850, Moong Rs 5,000-5,500, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 5,600-5,800, Moong Dhoya local Rs 6,200-6,700 and best quality Rs 6,700-6,900.

Masoor small Rs 3,800-4,200, bold Rs 3,950-4,250, Dal Masoor local Rs 4,600-5,000, best quality Rs 4,700-5,100, Malka local Rs 4,100-4,400, best Rs 4,200-4,500, Moth Rs 3,550-3,950, Arhar Rs 3,950 Dal Arhar Dara Rs 5,500-7,400.

Gram Rs 4,150-4,200, Gram dal (local) Rs 4,500-4,900, best quality Rs 4,900-5,000, Besan (35 kg), Shakti bhog Rs 1,880, Rajdhani Rs 1,880, Rajma Chitra Rs 6,250-8,450, Kabuli Gram small Rs 4,900-5,700, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 3,400-3,600, Peas white Rs 3,550-3,600 and green Rs 3,650-3,750.
