Punjab govt to build 'nature conservation park' in Amritsar

Punjab government has decided to develop 40 acres of vacant land in the heart of Amritsar city as a 'nature conservation park', an official spokesperson said today.
Services of experts from the field of landscaping will be taken to design, execute and maintain the nature park, the spokesperson said.
The proposed piece of land known as '40 Khuh (wells)' was once used to cater to the needs of water in Amritsar during the era of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
He said that this land will be developed as a state of the art park on the lines of New York's nature park.

"It would help in enhancing the beauty of Amritsar besides protecting the urban populace from the scourge of the ever increasing pollution which causes respiratory diseases," the spokesperson said.
The upcoming 'nature conservation park' would have inbuilt facilities and services like walking trail, botanical garden cafeteria, light and sound system to attract the public.
