The next Progressive Punjab Investment Summit will be held on October 28-29 at Indian School of Business, SAS Nagar, in which big industrial houses are likely to participate, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.
Besides, Punjab will be the first state in the country to have 100 per cent sewerage and water supply cover along with availability of all basic amenities, Badal was quoted as saying in an official release.
As per the plan chalked out by the state, in coming two years, Punjab would witness holistic development in all ways, he added.
Referring to the investment summit, Badal said before holding the summit, the state government will organise roadshows showcasing achievements, infrastructure and industrial facilities in the state to make industrial houses aware of where Punjab stands at present.
He said the focus area of the state will be to establish hubs of electronics, IT, food processing and bio-sciences industries, for which a high-level state delegation will visit Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan to attract investors and study the emerging possibilities of growth in industrial sectors.
Stating that the state's fiscal policy introduced for industrial sector by Punjab government has got praise from across the country.
He said these fiscal incentives have brought investment worth Rs 9,500 crore to the state within a period of just one year as 180 companies have approached the state for investment purposes under 'Invest Punjab'.
Announcing that Punjab would create pre-cleared land bank of more than 1,000 acres in a year, Badal said there was 300 acres of land bank available in the state for industrial purposes which has 662 plots.
He said this land bank will not need any clearance from any department since it had got all clearances in advance and is ready for use.
Giving details about air and road connectivity network of Punjab, Badal said the state is now heading towards 4G connectivity.
He said the service will be available in major towns of the state by the end of July and would be spread out across the state by the end of December.
Meanwhile, Badal said the state is all set to include a fleet of 250 buses in PRTC, out of which 150 buses will be brought under kilometre scheme.
He said this fleet will become part of the existing fleet of 873 state-owned Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) buses by the end of October.
Badal said PRTC will also dedicate its under construction bus stands at Rama Mandi and Fridkot very soon to the public and will also complete the construction of bus stand at Sangrur.
