Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today advised domestic workers to work towards a Bill for protecting their rights and said they should push the government in this regard.
At an event organised by an NGO, Chetanalaya, to mark 'International Domestic Workers' Day', Dikshit said she would support such a move and back the legislation.
Dikshit, on the occasion, awarded several executives of the organisation for their contribution towards the issue. National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Chairman Rameshwar Oraon, too, was present for the event held at St Michael's School on Pusa Road here.
Around 1,500 domestic workers participated attended the function, which discussed the present scenario for domestic workers, the problems faced by them in their work and the strategies to overcome the same.
