The Met office has predicted rains, squall and hailstorms in lower and mid hills of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday as the maximum temperature across the state increased by a few notches.

It predicted rains and thunderstorms in mid hills and rains or snow in higher hills for the next six days.

The forecast has worried farmers as squall and hailstorms may damage the standing wheat crop, fruit and apple crops.

The agriculture department has advised farmers to immediately harvest the wheat crop and store them under a covered area.

The maximum temperature in Una town was recorded at 41.2C. Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Nahan recorded a maximum of 35C, 33.8C and 33.2C respectively.

Keylong was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of 4.1C.
