A police inspector was arrested in a graft case in Rajasthan's Udaipur district on Tuesday, an Anti-Corruption Bureau spokesperson said.

Bhanwar Lal Bishnoi, who was posted as the SHO at the Khairwada police station, had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh for removing a charge in an FIR against complainant Amit Baleshwar.

The complaint lodged in this regard was verified following which the accused was arrested from his government residence, the spokesperson said.

He said the inspector had earlier taken Rs 1.50 lakh and was demanding Rs 2.50 lakh more to remove the charge under IPC Section 452 (house trespassing and causing hurt), which was not mentioned in the FIR.

The bribe was recovered and a case registered against the accused under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the official said.
