The minister said Rajasthan is a dynamo for industrial development in the country.
"Design is a very big component in industrial development ... I would like to make this announcement... The government of India agrees to have a centre started in Rajasthan," she said here at the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2015.
According to the minister, first up a satellite centre of Ahmadabad will be opened, and within a year, a full fledged NID with courses both for under-graduate and post-graduate will be set up.
"Even in the first year, I would like to say that for some courses we can start having the classes for post-graduate even this year, if the Chief Minister so desires. We can have it for textile and apparel design, furniture and interior design or it can be packaging design and an IT integrated design," she said.
NID in Rajasthan is something, which "I would like to offer at this stage," she added.
The minister also said the state has taken several steps to improve business climate and it has been ranked 6th this year in the World Bank's report.
"The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project will benefit the state immensely," she said urging the state exporters to avail the benefit of 3 per cent interest subsidy announced by the government recently to boost exports.
Further, she said India is the only "shining star" in the world at the time when other economies are doing badly.

MMTC Chairman and Managing Director Ved Prakash said the company is expecting sales to increase by 30-40 per cent during this year's exhibition.
Prakash said gold prices have risen by 12 per cent compared with the last year.
"There is a positive sentiment in the market because of good monsoon. There will be good sales during this festival season," he added.
Prakash favoured cut in import duty of gold, saying this would boost jewellery sales.
Earlier, the commerce minister expressed satisfaction at MMTC's endeavors and enterprising spirit as a PSU in directly linking with consumer preferences and serving their cause.
She said that gold as an investment is an attractive consumer choice, especially during festivals, and MMTC is fulfilling this festive demand with its quality- assured gold, high-quality silverware, and medallions.
