Following the recent border clash along the Nagaland-Assam border, a tribal body of Lotha Nagas of Ralan area under Wokha district has submitted a charter of demands to the Chief Minister of Nagaland demanding "immediate actions" in the ongoing law and order problem in the Disputed Area Belt.
The Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) chairman Hayithung Kikon and its secretary CS Ovung, through the charter submitted to the Chief Minister yesterday, demanded immediate bifurcation of SDO (Civil) and Border Magistrate, and that the two magistrates function independently.
Stating that the government of Nagaland should not allow the displaced adivasi tenants to resettle in the Ralan Area, the RALH said it would not "shoulder any responsibility in case of any eventuality or untoward incident."
The RALH demanded "immediate compensation and relief to all the displaced Naga villages" and also called for "immediate revocation" of section 144 CrPC.
The tribal body demanded deployment of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) at the villages and to provide security to the displaced villagers.
It also demanded withdrawal of the Assam Police posted opposite the CRPF camp at Liphanyan (Governor's Camp).
