Om Prakash Hooda, a retired civil surgeon, was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Prateek Jain, who sent him to police custody for two days.
The medical certificate was submitted in the Punjab and Haryana High Court three times on behalf of Rampal seeking a fresh date for hearing, police said.
Police said Hooda misguided the state government and the High Court by issuing a fake, five-day medical certificate to Rampal.
Hooda was working in the hospital in Ashram and had issued certificate without obtaining permission from the authorities concerned, police added.
