Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at his camp office, the senior Congress leader said he would not intervene in the current war of words between the Lt Governor and Chief Minister.
"The current development is a matter concerning the administration of Puducherry and I cannot intervene, he said when asked if he would use his good offices to end the tussle.
Rangasamy had mounted a scathing attack on Kataria in Karaikal on Jan 12 while releasing a book on statehood and had alleged that the Lt Governor was "standing in the way" of implementing decisions taken by the elected government.
He also said the Lt Governor in his Jan 17 rejoinder had stated that he (Kataria) wanted the Chief Minister to function in tandem and extend full cooperation to him.
"The Chief Minister should respond to this request of Kataria", he said.
