Registration of builders under RERA made compulsory

Registration of builders under Real Estate Act is now compulsory and a portal has been developed to facilitate online registration, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.
Launching the web portal (www.Hprera.In) for registration to provide efficient services to the promoters and buyers, the chief minister said the state cabinet had on August 5 approved the HP Real Estate (Regulation and Development Rules), 2017 , making the registration of builders mandatory.
The web portal which has been developed for registration of promoters and estate agents will also have link for making complaints against the developers, who fail to discharge their responsibility as per law, he added.
Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma said the state Town and Country Planning department will ensure that all the promoters are registered with the Director, TCP, who has been nominated as designated officer, for Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
All the promoters are required themselves to be registered with RERAwithin 30 daysand the general public is advised not to buy any plot or apartment or flat from any developer who is not registered with RERA.
The minister said RERA aimed at making the registration of real estate project compulsory besides imposing liability on the promoter to pay such compensation to the allottees as provided in the Act.
The Real Estate Regulation and Development Act, 2016 makes it obligatory on the part of the builders not to book, sell or offer for sale, or invite persons to purchase any plot, apartment of building, as the case may be, in any real estate project without registering the real estate project with the authority, he added.
