The Punjab government will establish research centres to upgrade the technical education and the industrial training syllabuses, state Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said today.
Experts would be roped in to form a research panel to make the syllabus for the ITIs and technical education institutes as per the present and future needs of the industry, he said at the inaugural function of a 'Mega Job Fair' at the Chandigarh University, Gharuan.
"After every three years, the syllabus would be reviewed and upgraded in consultation with the experts," the minister said.
Channi said that Rs 100 crore would be spent on the strengthening of infrastructure of government ITI's and polytechnic colleges this year.
Earlier, addressing the inaugural session of the job fair, he said that this is an unique initiative of the Punjab government to not only provide jobs to the youth, but build confidence between all the stakeholders.
In the first phase of the job fair, about four lakh students have registered online on a government portal and these events are beings held at 21 different venues in Punjab, Channi said.
Nearly 900 companies are participating to recruit the students as per their requirements, he said.
Channi said that after the first phase, the Punjab Chief Minister would hand over appointment letters to 50,000 youth on September 5 at Mohali.
He also said that another step taken by the Punjab government to provide quality technical education is that all the exams of the ITI's and technical education institutes would be held under the CCTV surveillance.
