Subedaar Saroop Singh, who was working as a spy, was arrested yesterday and documents containing incriminating information regarding movements of vital armed units and brigades were seized from him, police said.
Singh, a resident of village Ghasel falling in the jurisdiction of Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district, has been booked under various sections of Official Secrets Act and the IPC, they said.
Investigators have found out that Singh, who retired from 37th Rashtriya Rifles of Army, was engaged by a Pakistani operative on the pretext of disbursements of scholarships to the wards of army personnel transferred to different units from Kashmir valley, police said.
