"There should be some time and some space to meet, to greet, talk, walk with the people. Then only you really enjoy...," Naidu said at the beginning of his speech at the 11th Indian Fisheries And Aquaculture Forum here.
"Of course as a politician I used to do it. Now I am out of politics. I am retired from politics but not from public life," he said.
"... my people say sir, Vice President has to come this side, sit there, address the meeting and go that side and leave conference and say namaste!," Naidu said, amid peals of laughter.
He said the instict to meet people will always be there.
"But I try to maintain protocol whatever is suggested," Naidu said.
Naidu was sworn in as the 15th vice president of India on August 11.
