Close on heels of launching 4G services, telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm has roped in Pradeep Shrivastava as its chief marketing officer.
According to sources, RJio has internally announced the appointment of Pradeep Shrivastava as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), in Reliance Jio Infocomm.
In this role, Pradeep will be responsible for leading the marketing function for Jio, they added.
However, RJio did not reply to an e-mail query sent to confirm the development.
Before joining RJio, Shrivastava was member of the board of Director at PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL), which is part of Indonesia-based Axiata Group that holds stake in Idea Cellular.
He joined Axiata in 2011 after a brief stay at Videocon Telecom. Shrivastava served at Idea for about 8 years.
At Idea, he lead six business verticals, looking after a team of 5 national business heads and 18 regional marketing heads, including brand, product, value added services, roaming and channel as well as setting up national enterprise business and web business.
He has a total of 30 years of experience and served at various positions in companies like Hindustan Unilever and Lowe Lintas.
RJio plans to launch its 4G services this year over 5,000 towns and cities, accounting for over 90 per cent of urban India and over 215,000 villages.
As per rules, August 31, 2015 is the deadline for all companies who won BWA spectrum to roll out the services in at least 90 per cent of the service areas, failing which the Department of Telecom will have the right to withdraw the radiowaves.
