BJP President Amit Shah has alleged that scams to the tune of Rs 12 lakh crore took place during the 10-year rule of the UPA government.

Addressing the BJP state council meeting at Haldwani, Shah alleged Congress had shamed the country with scams in 2G spectrum auction, coal block allocation, and the AgustaWestland chopper deal, among others.

He also targeted the Harish Rawat-led Congress government in the state, alleging that it had used money power to win the trust vote. He said that the state government had been unsuccessful on every front in the last two years.

Shah exhorted party workers to work to achieve success in the Uttarakhand assembly polls in 2017.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Ajay Bhatt was officially announced as the state BJP chief during the meeting. He has been holding post since January this year.

In the meeting, a resolution praising assistance provided by the Centre to Uttarakhand was passed. Another resolution was passed which highlighted the alleged failures of the state government, senior BJP leader Prakash Pant said.
