According to an official release, Rs 117.34 crore had been alloted for enhancing the service rendered by the department including interlinking of computers through TNSWAN (Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network project), integration of services through management information system and provision of new software.
Through this, public can avail all the services of the department instantly, it said.
Besides, seeking to ensure transparency in the operation of sub-registrar offices, the Chief Minister had alloted Rs 3.50 crore for installation of two IP cameras in all the sub-registrar offices present in State.
The involvement of middle-men would be avoided through this move, it said, adding all the operations at sub-registrar office including marriage registration and document registration would be recorded.
Besides, with the help of camera, from the office of the head of the department, it can be monitored bringing in more transparency.
She said the details of either a marriage registration or document registration would be incorporated in CD format for which, Rs 50 would be collected from the public for availing this service.
Noting that several registrar offices run in more than 100 year old government buildings lacking basic infrastructure facilities, the release said, Jayalalithaa allocated Rs 48.90 crore for construction of new buildings for them.
Last year, the Chief Minister alloted Rs 26 crore for construction of new buildings for 52 registrar offices, in which the construction work is currently going on, the release said.
