Rs 711 crore sanctioned for salaries of contractual teachers

The Bihar government today sanctioned Rs 711 crore towards payment of salaries to 66,104 contractual teachers of primary and secondary schools of the state, an official said.
The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by the Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Principal Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters.
Besides releasing Rs 711 crore for salaries to the 66,104 contractual teachers posted at primary and secondary schools, the state government also ordered release of Rs 237 crore towards this purpose, he said.
In another major decision, the state government approved a proposal under which the limit for sanction of road projects under the Chief Minister Regional Development Fund has been raised to Rs 15 lakh from Rs 7.5 lakh earlier for which the Planning and Development department can pass order to the local engineering organisation for execution of works, Mehrotra said.

He said the raw materials for such road projects could be supplied by contractors on the basis of quotation and payment to labourers can be made under available rules.
The cabinet also approved a proposal under which the Sri Krishna Memorial Auditorium and the Gandhi Maidan will be maintained by a society of which the Patna Divisional Commissioner will be the chairman and the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and municipal commissioners will be its members, the Principal Secretary said.
