RTI Commissioner imposes penalties against 17 officials

Right to Information Act Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh P Vijaya Babu imposed penalties against 17 government officials here today, for their failure to attend a court of enquiry conducted by him at Vijayawada even after two adjournments.
Vijaya Babu told reporters here on Monday that though he asked the officials to attend his court of inquiry on petitions filed by the public, they failed to attend court though he gave them an opportunity to do so by adjourning the matter twice.
He said that the total penalty imposed against the officials would be Rs 2.55 lakh.
Among district level officials who have been penalised are Visakhapatnam District Additional Joint Collector V Venkata Reddy as well as Prakasam District Water Management Authority Project Director K Srinivasa Reddy.

The others are junior officer cadres of various departments of the Andhra Pradesh state government.
