Agarwal and Deputy Chief Engineer S.Manoharan appeared before Justice R Mahadevan and informed the court that they had given a cheque for Rs.Ten crore through the Revenue Divisional Officer of Dindigul for the land acquired at Adiyanoorthu village.
The Judge, who had earlier directed the officials to submit an affidavit, posted the matter to July 13 for further hearing after they sought time for payment of the balance amount of Rs.1.89 crore to the petitioner.
Later, the court gave eight more weeks time to settle the dues. Even then the railways did not pay the amount, the petitioner said.
