Sainik Schools, which come under the Ministry of Defence, contribute around 40 per cent strength in the National Defence Academy (NDA) every year, a senior army official said here today.
Director General of Information Technology Lt Gen Balbir Singh, who attended the 53rd Annual Day of Sainik School here, asked cadets to join the armed forces for a bright career.
An alumnus of the school, Singh talked about his days here during 1967 and lauded the institution for its quality of education.
Singh was commissioned in the defence services in 1978.
There are 24 Sainik Schools in the country.
