In his new role, Sameer will be responsible for driving and building the healthcare business for Philips in India, Philips India said in a statement.
He replaces Krishna Kumar who continued to lead Philips Healthcare business following his appointment as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Philips India in December 2013.
Commenting on the development, Philips India Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Krishna Kumar said: "I welcome Sameer to the Philips team and am confident that he will lead Philips Healthcare to greater scale and excellence."
"I am looking forward to this new role in Philips and am excited about working with the Philips Healthcare team to strengthen our leadership in the healthcare space in India," Garde said.
Prior to joining Philips, Sameer headed enterprise business at Samsung.
