Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today held a high-level meeting and took stock of the situation following damages caused by hailstorms and thunder which left two dead in the state.
Sangma said that he has directed his cabinet colleagues to visit the affected areas, particularly Mawsynram and Ranikor blocks in South West Khasi Hills district.
"I have asked my cabinet colleagues to take stock of the situation at the grassroot level to ensure that those affected are not left out," the Chief Minister said at the review meeting which was held via video-conferencing from Tura.
Chief Secretary K S Kropha, who chaired the meeting briefed Sangma about damages caused to the houses, school buildings, agricultural crops, disruption of power supply and disbursement of relief provided to the affected families.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that the reports of damages submitted by the concerned authorities reach the State Disaster Management Authority to ensure restoration of dwelling houses.
